Great news for all your PC enthusiasts out there: PC gaming is now officially considered a professional sport. Specifically, the U.S. State Department has officially declared the League of Legends tournament a professional sport.
The news was announced by the U.S. State Department on July 15, 2013, and is important for a number of different reasons.
The first and most important reason why this is important is that it allows gamers to more easily travel to the United States to compete in tournaments without going through a complicated series of visa applications.
Apparently, the biggest thing needed to prove that something is a professional sport is that a player can earn a livable income from that sport. During negotiations with U.S. Immigration and Citizenship Services, Riot Games – the creators of League of Legends – were successfully able to argue that professional LoL players can earn enough income through tournaments in order to make a living.
Whether you’re a professional League of Legends player or just a casual PC gamer, you’re not going to get very far in-game without a fast PC. Sure, League of Legends isn’t the most demanding game to install, but if you’re having trouble running the game on an old system, we highly recommend downloading PC Cleaner Pro in order to clear up performance problems.
The best part about this news is that League of Legends players can now walk up to girls and introduce themselves as professional athletes without lying.
