With everyone having either a desktop or a laptop these days, you are seeing an increase with end users asking how can their pc be sped up? Whether this is really the case for their pc, everyone wants a faster machine, with more processing power machine.

Now it is no wonder or surprise that consumers want their new electronic toy to be the faster and most powerful machine that it can be. Just like with a person’s love affair with his car, today that affection has moved over to the pc. So to help you have the best performing computer possible there are a number of steps that you can do.

The first thing that you can do to speed up your computer  is to defrag your hard drive with a disk defragmenter program such as Disk Keeper. As you use your computer, it will start to have wear and tear, and that usage will form as bad sectors on your hard drive. With more and more bad sectors, your computer will be running slowly. Defragging your hard drive helps to erase these bad sectors and therefore increase the speed of your computer.

Another thing that you can do is to clean out the temporary files in your browser. Have you ever wondered how your computer seems to remember where you last searched online? Well it is not magic but rather it is the in the stored memory of your browser called a cache or temporary internet files. But these caches can become quite large and take up needed space on your hard drive and cause your computer to slow down. So what you can do is clean out your cache but it will mean that   you have to type in favorite websites again; a small price to pay for a faster pc.

Next another thing that you can do to speed up your computer for free go and get a free antivirus program such as Avast.com Avast is a very popular and well liked antivirus program that is not only free but it can help to protect your computer from hackers who will overload your computer with useless spam type programs that will make it run to a crawl. With a quality program such as Avast, you can be free of those nasty viruses and also have a faster computer as well.

Now you think that you are all set and ready to go. Not necessarily. Another trick that you can do is clean out the recycle bin. Remember the trash cash on your desk top? Well even though you told your computer to delete those files, they are not really deleted at all; rather they are just moved to a different location on your hard drive. Since they are still on your hard drive they are taking up needed space and therefore system speed, so get into the habit of once in awhile tell your computer to delete the files in the recycle bin.

If you are computable using advanced system tools you can make your computer even faster by doing an advanced system optimization or if you are really daring you can try to use a registry cleaner such as Uniblue Registry Toolkit. But I must warn you; cleaning up your registry will speed up your computer but also if you do not know what you are doing you can cause your computer to crash. Why? Because the registry is the heart and soul of your computer and any mistakes in it are immediate so be very careful when dealing with the registry.

As you can see there are a number of things you can do to speed up your computer but also you can cause serious damage if you are not careful too. So take your time, ask questions if you are unsure about anything and especially if you see any error messages. But most of all sit back and enjoy your information social networking tool and enjoy.
