GTA IV for PC was released 6 months after the console version. Now, 5 years after it was first released, GTA IV is home to a thriving PC modding community. PC modders have created everything from beautiful visual mods to crazy Iron Man mods that allow you to fly around the sky using a rocket-powered suit.
GTA V for consoles will come out in fall 2013. No PC release date has been announced yet, which is why modders have taken it upon themselves to bring GTA V features to GTA IV. Thanks to a team of modders, you can now switch characters in GTA IV just like you can switch them in GTA V.
If you’ve seen the GTA V trailer, then you know what I’m talking about. With the click of a button, you can switch from one character to another character located across the map. This mod even comes with the same zoom-out effect that GTA V has. Check out the release video below:
That video also includes download instructions, although the script isn’t 100% perfect yet.
Step 1) Download the script from here
Step 2) Download and install ScriptHook using the installation instructions here (if you haven’t already done so with other GTA IV mods)
Step 3) Drag and drop the downloaded script into the /scripts folder you created during ScriptHook installation
Just like in GTA V, you can switch between three main characters. Better yet, the storyline continues across multiple characters. If you were being chased by the police with one character, you can switch characters to enjoy a bit of peace before coming back to your original character and fighting off the police.
PC players will have to wait a little longer to buy GTA V for PC. Fortunately, thanks to the rich GTA IV modding community, that wait will go by in no time. Check out more fun GTA IV mods here.
