DayZ was one of the most successful mods for ARMA II. The popular zombie survival mod threw players into an unforgiving world filled with scary, fast zombies.
You started with virtually nothing in your inventory and had to scavenge around for your survival. Life was tough if you travelled alone, and even your best friends could turn on you with a single shot to the back of the head.
After being in development for a very long time, the official standalone release for DayZ is finally here. The game’s creator has listed the game as incomplete and calls this release an “early access alpha”.
Here’s a trailer that shows what you can expect with DayZ:
The game’s creator cautions that the “…our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.”
This release includes all of the following features:
-The entirety of Chernarus
-New inventory system
-New crafting system
-New weapon and clothing customization systems
-40 player servers
-Persistent player profiles that track progress over time
Future updates should add plenty of more fun things, including playable vehicles, player-created buildings, graphics updates, and plenty more.
