Top 5 Reasons to Upgrade to Windows 10

Top 5 Reasons to Upgrade to Windows 10

Windows 10 is finally here (or almost here, depending on when you’re reading this article). Debating whether or not to upgrade? Here are 5 things that may sway your opinion.

5) Better Gaming

If you’re on a website called https://www.speedupmypcfree.com/, then there’s a good chance you use your PC for gaming.

If you’re a PC gamer, then upgrading to Windows 10 is a no-brainer. First and foremost, it’s got DirectX12, which will boost performance and graphics quality across the board.

Second, Windows 10 will bring Xbox One gamers and PC gamers closer together. You’ll be able to play cross-platform games. But if you have an Xbox One already, then you’ll also be able to stream games onto your PC. Microsoft is promising to take PC gaming as seriously as it takes Xbox One gaming – so the future looks bright.

4) No More Metro UI

Microsoft took huge criticism for Windows 8, which aimed to cater more to touchscreen users than desktop users.

Most desktop users didn’t like the changes – like the Metro UI, Modern UI, or upgraded Start Menu (whatever you want to call it).

Fortunately, Microsoft has stopped trying to shove these changes on users. With Windows 10, it’s back to the classic desktop + Start Button combination you’ve known and loved since Windows 95 (although there are plenty of small tweaks and improvements).

For those of you who did like the menu on Windows 8, you can still enjoy that touchscreen-focused menu simply by switching to Tablet Mode. Why didn’t you just do this in the first place, Microsoft?

3) Cortana

Cortana has been on the Windows Phone since the last few updates, but it’s making its full debut on Windows 10. Cortana may be the best virtual assistant technology in the world today. Early demos have shown users easily asking for weather, sports scores, directions, and all sorts of other information.

Instead of answering users in a weird, quasi-human robotic voice, Cortana answers with genuine human emotion and expressions. It sounds more realistic than Siri and other virtual assistants.

2) Low System Requirements

If your computer was built in the last 10 years or so, then it should have no problem running Windows 10. Microsoft has spent a considerable amount of time optimizing this OS – and that means its system requirements are virtually identical to Windows 7 and Windows 8.

In fact, even many users running Windows XP and Vista will be able to run Windows 10 without issue. So if you thought you had to skip Windows 10 because you had an old, beat up computer, then you might want to think again.

You can actually check if your PC will run Windows 10 by right clicking on the Windows 10 icon in your system tray and then clicking on “Check your upgrade status”. The upgrade tool will scan your system to determine if your tech specs are compatible.

1) It’s Free

This reason is in the number one spot for a reason. Windows 10 is completely free for most users. If you’re currently reading this on Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, or Windows Phone, then you’ll be happy to learn that Windows 10 is totally free for you.

Does this free upgrade offer mean we can stop calling the company Micro$oft now?
